Meet the experts at these exciting events

Weapons and jewellery tell us a lot about Vikings and their effects on the cultures they they raided and settled with- but now we can also look at the humble cooking pot!

Join experts from the University of York who have been studying the storage, preparation, cooking and consumption of food during the Viking era. They have been using pottery studies and scientific techniques including residue analysis (identifying the fats absorbed into the walls of cooking pots) zooarchaeology (the study of animal remains), and archaeobotany (the study of plant remains).

The experts will be present between 10:00 to 12:00 and 13:00 to 15:00.

Included in admission cost to Barley Hall
